Johanna Del Giorno

Johanna Del Giorno, 94, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Johanna was born on June 16, 1921 in Nuremburg, Germany to the late Johan and Emma Hutsteiner. Living in Nuremburg during World War II, she met her husband, the late Col. Anthony Del Giorno, USAF (Ret.). Johanna was a devoted homemaker always caring for her husband and three children. She volunteered at the Family Advancement Ministries, the Warner Robins Soup Kitchen, and at the Houston Medical Center as a "Pink Lady". Later, Johanna open and operated the Exotic Pet Shop in Warner Robins and was a seamstress at Evelyn's. She was a member of the Officer's Wives Club and a singer in the group the High Tones. Johanna always enjoyed birdwatching and swimming in her spare time. She had a special place in her heart for animals; especially her cat "Leroy". However, her greatest joy came from time spent with her beloved family.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Ralph Del Giorno (Sheila) of Juliette; Heidi Netto of Warner Robins; Anthony Del Giorno (Teri) of Kathleen; grandchildren, Alexandra, Tyler, Heather, Tom, Julie; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Augustin; one great great-granddaughter, Karissa; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Rosary will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 7:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Committal Service, where Johanna will be laid to rest next to her husband will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Johanna Emilie Del Giorno to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
