John Lee Hester

April 28, 1945 — September 5, 2010

Surrounded by his family at home, John Lee Hester, 65, went into eternal life with his Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2010 after a gallant battle with cancer.

Mr. Hester was born on April 28, 1945 in Macon, and graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in 1963. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Georgia College in 1975, and served his country with great pride and honor in the United States Army, participating in the Vietnam conflict. After his military career, he worked in civil service as a Director and Supervisor in Electronics for forty-two years before retiring from Robins Air Force Base in January 2008. He attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Macon. His parents, William Mack Hester and Dorothy Pauline Wagner Hester, and half-brother, Charles William Hester, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of forty-one years, Trudy Spear Hester; son, Reggie Lee Hester (Allyson), Athens; twin sister, Jane Lois Hester Bowles (Kelvin), Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia; and sister, Polly Ann Hester Whitehead (Gene), Macon.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Pastor Lee Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Perry Memorial Gardens in Perry.
