Johnnie D. Cole Williams, 77, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on March 26, 2023.
Johnnie was born in Vienna, Georgia and lived in Macon, Georgia before relocating to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1964. She worked as an inspector for USDA and owned an antiques store. Johnnie had also worked for Publix in the past.
When not working, Johnnie enjoyed growing flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and a three-time champion of the State of Florida Chili Cookoff, and also finished 8th in the world competition.
Johnnie was the beloved wife of Wilburn “Sonny” Williams, Jr. for the past 57 years; loving sister of LaVerne Dalton and Wendell Cole, Sr. (Diana); adored aunt of Wendy Kay Corbett (Jeff) and Heather Clegg (Bill); adored great-aunt of Jonathan Dalton (Paige), Dylan Dalton (Jackal Green), Kaitlyn Sinyard (Will), Austin Cole, Noah Clegg, Anna Caite Clegg and SaraKay Corbett; great-great-aunt of Liam Sinyard and Levi Sinyard; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Cole, Jr. and Hilda Hudson Cole; brother-in-law, Arthur Dalton; nephews, Damon Dalton and Wendell Cole, Jr.; and great-nephew, Jacob Hutcheson.
A memorial gathering will take place at McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Johnnie’s life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Guests are invited for a reception at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home following the service.
