Joyce Parker Boone

July 19, 1940 — April 24, 2018

On Tuesday, April 24, 2018 surrounded by loving family, Mrs. Joyce Boone passed peacefully away at Arbor Manner Assisted Living in Perry, Georgia. Mrs. Boone, daughter of the late Percy and Mabel Parker, was born in Canada in Digby, Nova Scotia in 1940. She was the youngest of over a dozen children and grew up on the family farm. At 19 she moved to Montreal, later lived in the Philippines, and had been a middle Georgia resident since 1979. It was when she first moved here that she met her love of nearly thirty years, Mr. Jesse Lee Boone. They were later married and together they enjoyed life on their farm in Elko.

Mrs. Boone, or MeMaw, as she was known to many, can be best described as a lady with a servant’s heart. All who knew her will attest that she possessed a constant desire to give to others and through her example she instilled this legacy of service in her children and grandchildren. She was always busy, and her work ethic was unmatched; another trait that was passed down to her family. Mrs. Boone was recently retired from Centerville Elementary and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she served as a cook for many years. Over the years she also worked at the commissary on Robins Air Force Base, the American Legion, and doing catering for weddings, parties, and receptions. Additionally, she was the former owner and operator of Clean As A Whistle cleaning service. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Warner Robins. She also enjoyed attending services at First Presbyterian Church and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. In addition to all of this, Mrs. Boone also loved cooking, fishing, bowling, and as a young lady, playing basketball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all but one of her siblings.

Mrs. Boone is survived by her beloved husband, Jesse Lee Boone, Elko; children, Todd Hudlin (Bonnie), Warner Robins; Wayne Hudlin, Warner Robins; Sheldon Hudlin (Charlotte), Bonaire; grandchildren, Tyler Hudlin (Natasha), Andre’ Hudlin (Kaiya), India Hudlin, Tyree Hudlin, Caleb Hudlin, Trevor Hudlin, Aaliyah Hudlin, Kaden Hudlin, Chance Hudlin; great-grandchildren, Talon Hudlin, Cali-Grace Hudlin, Aniya Hudlin, Noah Hudlin, Andre’ Hudlin Jr.; sister, Kay Fitzgerald, St. Johns, Canada; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

On Saturday evening, April 28, 2018 the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 the funeral service to remember, celebrate, and honor Mrs. Boone’s life will be held in the chapel at McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service Mrs. Boone will be entombed in the Magnolia Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
