Judith Griswold Sager

January 12, 1940 — September 22, 2017

Judith Griswold Sager, 77, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2017, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Sager was born on January 12, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Richard Worthington Griswold and Julia Griswold Jenkins. Her early childhood was spent in Montgomery, Alabama and Sebring and Orlando, Florida before she moved to Warner Robins in 1950. A graduate of the Warner Robins High School Class of 1958, Mrs. Sager received a Bachelor of Arts in History from North Georgia College (now the University of North Georgia) in 1962. In October 1962, she married Landon Oliver “Jerry” Sager, Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1973, she went to work on Robins Air Force Base as a technical order clerk and remained there until 2000. From 1972 until 2012, Mrs. Sager was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she attended catechism class and was a member of the Tuesday evening Prayer Group. She moved to Richmond Hill, Georgia in 2012 and became a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed visiting the local historic sites in the Savannah area and enjoyed traveling to St. Augustine, Florida and Washington, D.C. in recent years.

Mrs. Sager loved to read—especially classic literature and historical non-fiction. From a very young age, she had a keen interest in the British Royal Family. She was a student of genealogy, tracing her paternal family back to the 1300’s in England, all prior to the advent of the internet. Known as “the walking lady,” Mrs. Sager was well-known for her walking around Warner Robins in the 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s. In fact, she only drove a car for very brief period of her life. She was preceded in death by her son, Landon Oliver Sager, III, her grandson, Dustin Lee Horton, and her stepfather, Harold Miller Jenkins.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Richard Sager of Williston, FL and Jeanne Wallace (Scottie) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; her grandchildren, Stefan Sager of Germany, Caitlyn Wallace Mendez (Tony) of Springfield, Georgia, Julie Nicole Adler of Atlanta, Georgia, and Felicia Sager of Dallas, Texas; and her great-grandson, Niko Ramon Mendez.

The funeral mass celebrating Mrs. Sager’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins with Monsignor Fred Nijem officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Mrs. Sager will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
