Karen Lou Johnson

May 22, 1951 — May 1, 2022

Karen Lou Johnson went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was 70 years old.

Born on May 22, 1951 in Iowa to the late Glenn Edward and Laura Lee Haas, she was part of a military family where they lived all over the country. The family eventually settled in Atwater, California where Karen graduated from Atwater High School in 1969. While she was in high school, Karen was Freddy the Falcon, the school’s mascot. She was married in 1970 and moved to Michigan, where they started a family. She moved to the San Francisco Bay area where 1 year and 18 days later, her son was born. Eventually, Karen moved back to the Atwater area where she started working for Farmers Insurance Company in the claims department. In her spare time, she loved to bowl. She worked at Bellevue Bowl in Atwater, was a member of a league, and spent many nights hanging out at the bowling alley. In 1993, she moved to Byron, Georgia and became a sales and claims agent for Geico Insurance Company until her retirement in 2014. Karen was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Most important in her life were her grandchildren. Karen loved spending time with them and taking them to their various activities.

Left to treasure her memory include her children, Paula Kay Walker (Kevin) of Bonaire, and Christopher Walker (Alicia) of West Point, Utah; sisters, Debra Cole (J.T.), Glenda Brown (Doug), and Christi Bacon (Doug); grandsons, Nate Walker, Cameron Walker, and Gabriel Walker; granddaughter, Brea Walker; and several beloved nieces and nephews including her favorite, Garrett.

At the family’s request, all services will be private.
