Karl Horne

December 26, 1939 — October 1, 2015

In the early morning hours of October 1st, Mr. Karl Horne died peacefully at Medical Center/Navicent Health. Born in Grayson, Louisiana, Karl was the son of the late Clyde and Melba Horne. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Clyde Horne, Jr. After finishing high school in Santa Monica, California, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was happily married for 44 years to his loving wife, Linda (Yaughn) Horne, of Byron.

In the years just following his Air Force service, Karl was a private pilot and worked as a crop duster. He later went to work in Civil Service and was retired from Robins Air Force Base where he had been a C141 Aircraft Electrician. Karl was a jack of all trades and enjoyed dabbling in many things, including an occasional round of golf. However, his greatest joy was found in family and most particularly in being an adoring "pawpaw" to his three beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Karl leaves behind a daughter, Jenny Horne of Charleston, South Carolina; son, Brian Horne (Tina); two grandsons, Maddison Robert Miller and Jordyn Cody Horne; a granddaughter, Sophie Ann Horne, all of Byron; and a sister, Gail Ward of Thousand Oaks, California; and of course, two granddogs.

On Sunday, October 4, from 2:00 until 4:00pm the family will receive friends at The Farmhouse, located just behind McCullough Funeral Home, at 417 S. Houston Lake Road. They look forward to sharing this time and remembering Karl with anyone who would like to join them.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in memory of Karl Horne to either The American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, PMB 359, Macon, GA, 31210 or The American Lung Association of Georgia, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA, 30080.
