Keith Lewis

December 1, 1933 — December 17, 2021

Keith Edward Lewis peacefully left this world on December 17, 2021, at the age of 88, to make it to his 10 a.m. tee time in Heaven. Keith was born in Atlanta, Indiana, on December 1, 1933, to Charles Denzel and Naomi Lewis, and grew up alongside his siblings: Dick, Bill, Linda, and Charles (“Susie”). While Keith was born and raised in Indiana, he never let this get in the way of his love for Southern food and Georgia football.

Keith served his country honorably as a member of the Air Force during the Korean War, for which he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After returning home from Korea, Keith joined the Department of Defense as a civilian, where he worked for over 35 years engaged on cutting edge projects such as the Global Positioning System and the F-15 air defense systems.

Aside from his career as a soldier and civil servant, Keith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years and best friend, Shirley; his children: Janice, Jerry, Joyce, Jeff, Ken, and Russ; his 12 grandchildren, his 10 great-grandchildren; and his loyal dog, Oreo.

Keith accomplished more than many could ever hope to achieve in multiple lifetimes. He was one of the few people to shoot a hole in one, ride on the Orient Express, cruise down the Nile River, fly on the Concorde and a sailplane, visit six of the seven continents (and live on three of them), become a distinguished member of the ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club, drive on the Atlanta Motor Speedway, and have the perfect joke for any situation that came his way.

While it is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Keith, anyone who had the privilege of meeting him knows that he is now lighting up heavenly rooms with his smile and humor, and perfecting his golf game (or just taking as many mulligans as he likes).

Visitation with Keith’s family will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Keith will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. ***Keith’s family requests that all guests in attendance of his visitation and service wear masks and business casual attire.***
