Laura Herndon Williams

August 25, 1934 — August 5, 2021

Laura Herndon Williams, age 86, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
Born August 25, 1934, in Boston, Georgia, Laura was the daughter of the late Homer and Etta Mae Herndon. She is survived by her daughter, DeAnn Blankenship; son-in-law, Russell Blankenship; sister, Sarah Herndon Mimbs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Al Williams; sisters, Addie Gray, Ruth Humphrey, Lee Cannady, and June Chambliss.

Known for her sense of humor, Laura enjoyed making others laugh and smile. She enjoyed telling them funny little stories that she joyfully referred to as “smileys.” She said it was the way she could spread sunshine into their day; Laura told many “smileys” over the years as she was certainly full of joy and laughter.

Raised on a farm in Tifton, Laura always enjoyed country living. As an adult, Laura would often reminisce about the time spent on the farm with her sisters. A professional in every sense of the word, Laura was very meticulous in her work, dressed attractively at all times, and was well liked by her co-workers. She lived in Gainesville, Florida, and worked for the University of Florida, before moving to Memphis, Tennessee, where she lived for a number of years. Laura eventually settled in Macon, Georgia, where she worked as a Medical Transcriber at the Macon Coliseum Hospital before retiring.

In her spare time, she enjoyed researching all sorts of different topics and solving puzzles of all kinds. Nothing satisfied Laura more than finding an answer to a question she did not know. Most importantly, she had a relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Laura often talked about how He was her strength in times of difficulty, and especially after the death of her husband.
