Lawayne Hayes

Lawayne Hayes, 78, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015.

Lawayne was born on July 1, 1936 in Arab, Alabama. He was a member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church. Lawayne retired from Anchor Glass where he worked in maintenance, prior to that he worked at Delta Tanks in Macon for many years. Lawayne's family and friends were always impressed with his ability to repair things, it seemed he could do almost anything with his hands. Lawayne was an avid North Side Eagles and University of Alabama fan. He loved gardening and above all else spending time with his family.

His loving wife of 49 years, Gloria Harrellson Hayes and parents, Pete and Elizabeth Jarrett Hayes; and sister, Janice Gray, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughter, Charla Thompson; son-in-law, Joey Massey of Warner Robins; grandchildren, J.L. and Lauren Thompson; sister, Minnie Head of Atlanta; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to the LaWayne Hayes Memorial Fund in care of McCullough Funeral Home.
