Lea Wheeler

February 25, 1933 — March 8, 2018

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 8, 2019, Lea Wheeler joined her beloved husband of 56 years, Ray Wheeler in heaven. She was 85.

Lea was born in Florence, Missouri on February 25, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Viola Pittman Overy. Her genuine love for all children was evident as she was a much-loved kindergarten teacher at Crestwood Preschool in Warner Robins for many years. Lea was a longtime faithful member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as the youth group leader for over 40 years. She also enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader and going to Disney World with three generations of her family each year. Lea proudly provided the “home base” for all of the youth’s activities that she and her children participated in including: making floats for parades, baseball meetings, Girl Scouts meetings, church group meetings, and a number of other activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family, her church, and her community and served them all faithfully during her lifetime.

She leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Rev. Nathan Wheeler (Sherri) of Concord, North Carolina, Michelle Pugh (Doug) of Byron, and Seanna Milam (Wesley), Shirley Hall (Harry), and Mark Hall (Stacey), all of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer), JohnMark (Caitlyn), and Hannah Wheeler, and Aaron and Ryan Pugh (Caitie), Kaitlyn Brown (Logan), Brenna Butcher (Alexander), Marlea Nelson (Stephen), Chanlea Williams (Stevie), and Amanda Shell; and great-grandchildren, Roman Wheeler, Chloe Pugh, Brenson Pearce, Alice Nelson, and Kennadie and Karrington Shell.

Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to Mr. Wheeler. Lea’s son, Rev. Nathan Wheeler will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Lea Wheeler to Encounter Church, JohnMark and Caitlyn Wheeler, YWAM Missionaries, 2406 Del Paso Road, Sacramento, CA 95834 or PayPal, www.paypal.me/weddedwheelers.
