Lena Marie Nussbeck Grube

August 19, 1929 — May 17, 2022

Mother to five boys and one girl, grandmother, aunt, friend, and faithful Christian woman, Lena Marie Nussbeck Grube, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She was 92 years old.

The matriarch of the Grube family, Lena was born on August 19, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas to the late Edward Alvin and Lena Inez Corbin Nussbeck. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School near Topeka, Kansas. Raising a squad of boys was an adventure, one that “Muh” embraced wholeheartedly. When her youngest boys were in school, “Honey Ree” had a daycare in her home, helping to raise many kids around the area. Those who knew her, knew that Lena loved her some Christmas. All year long, she would make plastic canvas ornaments to put on the tree at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She also sold the ornaments at the annual church bazaar which raised money for the church’s outreach groups. Her home was decked out each year during the holiday season. A faithful member of Mount Calvary, she sang in the choir, was part of the Ladies Guild, and was a longtime participant in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, both at Mount Calvary and at Faith Lutheran Church. Most of all, Lena adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She relished every moment she was able to spend with them.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ree Grube, and her siblings, Edward Nussbeck, Robert Nussbeck, Emma Lucille Nussbeck Zimmerman, and Jane Nussbeck Kennedy.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, John Daniel “Danny” Grube (Kathy), Jeffrey Loyal “Jeff” Grube (Sheila), William Michael “Mike” Grube (Lisa), Mark Christopher “Chris” Grube, and Steven Tobias “Toby” Grube (Amy); 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family who will dearly miss her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at McCullough Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Lena will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/c/MountCalvaryLutheranWarnerRobins

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Lena Grube’s memory to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 336 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
