Lillie T. Wade

Lillie Wade went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the afternoon of Sunday, April 3, 2016. She was 100 years old.

Born on August 29, 1915 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Lillie was the daughter of the late Jerry Thompson, Sr. and Margaret Lee Thompson. She attended school until 8th grade, later attending R.B. Slaughter High School in Morgan City, Mississippi where she was a cheerleader, always rooting for her team to win. She lived most of her life in Greenwood, Mississippi on a farm and supported her family by working as a sharecropper. In the late 1960's, when all but three of her children were grown and on their own, she Mrs. Wade began working in delivery for Fishers Gift Shop. She began working as a private duty nurses aid for Ms. Hattie Wells and followed her to the Golden Age Nursing Home where she continued to work as a private duty nurses aid. Lillie was a thoughtful and creative poet, a seamstress and an excellent mother, raising her children to know and love God. She was a devout and longtime member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was later a devoted member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood. She was on the Mother's Board in both churches. In her mid-90's, she babysat her great-grandson, Christopher Charles Ross until he turned four years of age.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Wade; and children, Will Blue Wade, Louis Wade, Bennie Wade, and Betty Wade Barfield; and several brothers and sisters.

Lillie leaves her memory behind with six loving children, Johnny Wade of Mississippi, Margaret Wade Rice (Walter) of St. Louis, Missouri, Kennie Wade (Sandra) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Bertha Wade Merriwether, Malendia Wade Lemee, and Mary Wade Perkins, all of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Ethel Wade; son-in-law, Johnny Barfield; 39 grandchildren, including two that she raised as her own children, Neda Perkins Hillard and Anthony Perkins; 56 great- grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood, Mississippi. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Harmon Cemetery, Morgan City, Mississippi.
