Lois Pate

March 27, 1934 — May 15, 2009

Lois Abbott Pate, age 75, departed on Friday, May 15, 2009 from her husband of 57 years to fly into the waiting arms of her life time love and Savior. Her faith that she would some day go to Him was never diminished, and that love was evident in the way she lived her allotted days on earth.

She arrived in this world on March 27, 1934 in Perdido Beach, Alabama, the only daughter of William R. and Grace Charlotta Abbott. Both have preceded her in the second journey of life.

Lois demonstrated a God given ability to be happy in her environment where ever that happened to be. She traveled extensively through out the states as an Air Force wife, and she demonstrated an uncanny ability to adapt to any circumstance and find happiness.

Lois was an avid bowler, and she was gifted as an artist and poet. Her artistic ability was exemplified in her beautiful ceramic work and in her oil paintings. Many of her beautiful works have been left for the enjoyment of friends and family, and they will be cherished for years to come. Greater than all of these, she was a devoted wife and mother. Her love of family is best depicted by her unselfish attendant care of a grandson as he lay comatose for seven months in an Atlanta hospital and the follow on care that has continued for the past thirteen years. With her faith in God always at the forefront, she has accepted this misfortune and all adversity with a smile and hope, without the slightest complaint, or hint of displeasure. She constantly relied on God to dispose of any major problem in His manner and in His time.

Lois has temporarily left behind her husband, James E. Pate of Warner Robins; son, Ritchie E. Pate (Leann) of Kathleen, a daughter, Kerri Lynn Pate of Warner Robins, a son, Roger W. Page of Atlanta. She is also survived by three brothers; John L. Abbott (Kate), Monroeville, Alabama, Charlie Abbott and James R. Abbott, both of Anniston, Alabama. There are five surviving grandchildren; Justin E. Pate, Michael R. Pate, Ashley Wells (Ben), Nathaniel Pate and Esta Pate and one great grandson, Emanuel Wells.

Lois was an active member of Central Baptist Church, and a devout Christian who saw nothing but good in everyone. Her presence on earth will be greatly missed, but her love and memory will remain with us and will be a constant reminder of the strength of God's love and His promise that we again will be united.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The final tribute to her memory will be conducted at Central Baptist Church on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Dr. Owen Bozeman and Reverend Sydney Odom will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Children's Hospital 777 Hemlock Street, Macon, Georgia 31201 or Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Home P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
