Lorene Harbuck

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 20, 2018, Lorene Harbuck, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Lorene was born on July 4, 1938 in East Tallassee, Alabama to the late, Robert and Luttie Hutchens Short. With her family as her highest priority, she stayed home with her children while they were young. Later, Lorene worked for the Houston County Board of Education in the cafeteria. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, the Vera Merritt Sunday School Class, and the XYZ Ministry. In recent years, Lorene enjoyed being part of “The Golden Girls” at Antebellum Grove and eating at her favorite restaurant Captain D’s. However, her greatest joy was found in time spent in church and with her beloved family.

Her loving husband of 55 years, Albert Coy Harbuck, the parents who raised her, Henry and Alice Opehlia Hight, and siblings, Tony Height, Howell Hight, and Helen Taylor, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Melanie Day (Rich Scuderi) of Bonaire, Cynthia Harbuck of Warner Robins, Natalie Powell (Rick) of Prattville, Alabama; grandchildren, Chelsea Johnston (Stephen), Cory Day, Heather Powell, Allison Powell; great-grandchildren, Conley Johnston, Arilyn Johnston, Ellery Johnston, and siblings, Larry Hight (Pat) of Hickory, North Carolina, and Francis Reynolds of North Carolina.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Second Baptist Church. Following the service, Lorene will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Anna “Lorene” Harbuck to the Heart of Georgia Developmental Disabilities Ministries, 238 Hatcher Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
