Louise Moore Phillips

March 21, 1920 — May 23, 2015

Louise Moore Phillips, 95, walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

Louise was born on March 21, 1920 in Lake City, South Carolina to the late Dr. Lorie and Mrs. Janie Harris Moore. Upon graduation from high school, she followed in her father's footsteps and decided to go into the medical field. Louise attended Queens Chicora College for 2 years before graduating from Duke University School of Nursing with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing. Soon after her college graduation, Louise joined the United States Army with honor and courage serving as a Registered Nurse during World War II from 1943 until 1948. She continued practicing at several hospitals after being discharged from the Army.

Louise was a faithful servant to God and the oldest member of Houston Lake Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend to many. Louise will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by the love of her life, Howard Felix Phillips; sister, Frances Harris Moore; brother, Robert Harris Moore; and sons-in-law, Lawrence Durham and Larry Bledsoe.

Louise's memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughters, Linda P. Willis (Tom Poulnot), Marie P. Swanson (Lee), Janie Phillips, Faith Phillips (Blanton Brown) and Darlene P. Bledsoe; grandchildren, April Foster (James), Amy Clydesdale (Greg), Christina and Michael Swanson, Selby Brown (Robert Waskom), Klancy and Blevin Brown, Miranda Nelson (Paul), Jessica Halterman (Chris), and Kelyn Bledsoe; and great-grandchildren, Jaylon P. and Laython P. Willis, Joshua, Jayla, and Josiah Clydesdale, Tatum and Scarlet Swanson, Katie and Danny Smith, Chanlyr, Kynslie, Kaedyn and Brayden Nelson, Elias Halterman, Kaleya Bledsoe, and Christopher King, Jr.
