Lt. Col. Carvel Edwin "Pat" Mahaffey, Jr., Usaf (Ret.)

October 12, 1929 — June 23, 2021

Pat Mahaffey, Jr., passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. He was 91 years old.

Born on October 12, 1929, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Pat was the son of the late Carvel Edwin Mahaffey, Sr. and Alpha Harden Mahaffey. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, as an officer, from which he retired having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Subsequent to his military retirement, Pat passed on his love and dedication to his country in becoming a well-respected JROTC Instructor at Northside High School for 20 years. In his retirement years, he loved seeing and talking to many of his Northside JROTC Cadets around Warner Robins. Pat was a longtime golfer and avid supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, where all three of his children attended. Warner Robins church of Christ was his church home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamney Mahaffey; his granddaughter, Tara Guetz; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Wilma Mahaffey.

He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 14 years, Rebecca Mahaffey of Warner Robins; son, Michael Mahaffey of South Carolina; daughters, Marcel Mahaffey (Jeffrey Dorsey) and Patricia Guetz (Scott), both of Denver; grandchildren, James Mahaffey (Sierra), Morgan Gomerdinger (Sean), Ashlyn Dorsey, and Shay Guetz (fiancé, Zachary Lindahl); great-granddaughter, Danielle Mahaffey; and brothers, David Mahaffey (Laura) and Robert Mahaffey.

Pat’s family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Pat will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that memorial donations be given in honor of Pat’s granddaughter, Tara Guetz, to the Guetz Foundation, 7590 Raphael Lane, Littleton, CO 80125.
