Lt. Col. Ralph Maxwell, Usaf (Ret.)

Ralph Maxwell, 87, entered into rest on Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Ralph was born on September 12, 1930 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Thomas C. and Lucy Franklin Maxwell. A distinguished pilot in the United States Air Force, he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Gary Maxwell, and his siblings, W.A. Maxwell, Nell Akin, Irene Murphy, and Howard Maxwell.

Ralph’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving sons, Alan M. Maxwell of Atlanta and Gregory T. Maxwell of N. Charleston, South Carolina; siblings, Roy F. “Jack” Maxwell of Marietta, Ann Sowers of Gainesville, Florida, Kitty Hoff of The Villages, Florida, Sue Wood of Carnesville, Mary Land of Waynesboro, Carolyn Jenkins of Charleston, South Carolina; and longtime companion, Nelda Jennette.

A memorial service celebrating Ralph’s life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Cleghorn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Maxwell’s arrangements.
