Luther J. Tidwell

On the morning of Friday, August 24, 2018, Luther James Tidwell, 102, was reunited with his beloved wife and daughter in heaven.

Mr. Tidwell was born on December 2, 1915 in Forsyth, Georgia to the late Henry and Susie Ellis Tidwell. He served his country with pride and honor in the United States Navy during World War II. Subsequent to his military service, he worked until his retirement on Robins Air Force Base. He also later retired from Robins Financial Credit Union. Working in his yard and tending to his home in north Georgia were his hobbies, but nothing brought him more joy than providing for his family—both immediate and extended. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Wilson Tidwell; his daughter, Anita Tidwell Surface; and his brother, Buck Tidwell.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving grandsons, David E. Surface of Locust Grove and James D. Surface of Brookhaven; his great grandson, Christopher Surface; and his great-great-grandson, Kane Surface

The graveside service celebrating Mr. Tidwell’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Magnolia Park Cemetery with the Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating.
