M.J. Durden, Jr

April 29, 1919 — November 30, 2004

M.J. Durden, Jr., 85, went home on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2004 at Second Baptist Church with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd, Warner Robins 31088.

Mr. Durden was born in Lyons, GA. He was a retired crane operator with Armstrong World Industries and was also a farmer in Toombs County. He was a WWII veteran with the U.S. Army. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church, the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class and the XYZ’s. His parents, M.J. Durden, Sr. and Emma Brinson Durden; wife of 60 years, Ila Durden; brother, Harold Durden, and sister, Frankie Lou Keene, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Jack (Delores) Durden, Macon; sister, Marjorie Owens, Milledgeville; granddaughters, Sherry Smith, Macon and Tracey (Durden) Gorla, Athens; grandson, Jeffrey Durden, OR; and great-granddaughter, Amber Bedgood, Macon.
