Msgt. Arlis Turner, Usaf (Ret)

April 19, 1941 — July 27, 2006

MSgt. Arlis “Z” Turner, 65, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2006. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Andersonville National Cemetery. Visitation will be
Sunday evening 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society 804 Cherry Street Macon, GA 31201.

MSgt.Turner was born on April 19, 1941 in Cochran, Georgia where he also graduated from Bleckley County High School. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith. MSgt. Turner retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service. During his Air Force career, he was stationed at Robins Air Force Base for many years. He received many awards and medals which include, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. After retirement he joined the civil service at Robins Air Force Base with D.L.A. and in supply with a base contractor, E.G.& G. MSgt. Turner was a member of the Middle Georgia Honor Guard, American Legion Post # 0172, 40/8, VFW Post # 6605, Military Order of the Cooties, Life- time member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and T.R.E.A. He will be long remembered for his many contributions to the United States of America and the Middle Georgia area. His parents, Harvey Lee Turner and Winifred Hart Turner, six brothers and one sister, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Susan Turner, Byron; his children, Darren Turner (Natalie), Byron; Allison Heard (Robbie), Byron; sisters, Vera Churchwell, Cochran; Verta Lamb, Cary; Jean Heath, Cochran; brother, Cecil “Zeon” Turner, Cary; five grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
