Bobbie Gene Hess, 76, entered into rest on Sunday, January 1, 2017.
Mr. Hess was born on January 31, 1940 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Cleotus and Lydia Whited Hess. Mr. Hess proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from June 1958 through November 1980, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant before he retired. He then went to work as a Quality Control Technician for Lockheed Martin. An avid golfer for many years, Mr. Hess loved all types of sports and was especially fond of the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves during baseball season while pulling for the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders during football season. On Sunday afternoons, he could be found watching NASCAR and pulling for his favorite driver, Mark Martin. But, his number one priority was always his family. Mr. Hess was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife, Carol A. Hess; children, Bobby G. Hess, Jr. (Cathy), Brian K. Hess (Carmen), and Karen M. Allen (Randy); grandchildren, Ryan K. Hess (Caly), Brandon L. Hess (Amy), Sarah A. Lozano (David), and Keely R. Allen; great-grandchildren, Branson T. Hess, Genevieve J. Lozano, Bryce L. Hess, Jericho K. Hess, and Dante Knowles; brother, Cecil Hess (Audrey); and sisters, Janice Evans (Donald) and Barbara Clay (Harvey).
Visitation with the Hess family will be Friday, January 6, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Rozier officiating. Full military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the funeral service. Interment will be private.
