Msgt. Garfield Russ, Usaf (Ret.)

Garfield Russ, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 08, 2019.

Garfield was born on April 03, 1939 in Shelby, North Carolina to the late Clarence Jack Russ and Daisy Byrd Campbell Russ. Garfield, a Vietnam Veteran, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years and was last stationed at Robins Air Force Base, the 2955th CLSS. He achieved the prestigious rank of Master Sergeant before he retired. He then worked another 18 years at Robins Air Force Base as a Supply Supervisor for Grand Support Equipment.

Garfield was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He also enjoyed being a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 6605, Junior Vice Commander, and a former member of the American Legion #172, Honor Guard, 40-8, and Loyal Order of Moose in Warner Robins.

In addition to his parents, Garfield was preceded in death by his former wife, Beverly Ruth Webb Russ of Warner Robins; brother, J.C. Russ, and sisters, Patsy Cogdell, and Betty Walker.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Becky Russ; children, James Russ of Byron, Gregory Russ (Lori) of Macon, Andy Russ (Lori) of Advanced, North Carolina, Mark Russ (Angela) of Fayetteville, Gerald McMann, Jr. (Jolene) of Kathleen, Brian Russ (Jennifer) of Bonaire, Jeanne Williams (John) of Bonaire, Stella McSpadden (Tommy) of Byron, Cindy Wright (Sammy) of Tifton, Tami Mix (Charlie) of Buford, and Jame Lee Gainous (Shelia) of Hawkinsville; sister, Brenda Laws of Monroe, North Carolina; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service for Mr. Russ will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Garfield Russ to Foundation Fighting Blindness at 7168 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21046.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Russ arrangements.
