Msgt. Gilbert George Cunha, Usaf (Ret.)

Gilbert Cunha, 82, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.

Gilbert was born on August 8, 1935 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Antone and Ella Curria Cunha. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant after 26 years of service. Subsequent to his military career, Mr. Cunha worked for Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base from where he also retired.

A longtime faithful member of Second Baptist Church, Gilbert served as a Deacon and was a member of the Kindred Spirit Sunday School Class. There, he sang with the choir and worked with the children. Mr. Cunha loved using his free time to watch sports on TV and spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Cunha; and his brother, Richard Cunha.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughter, Lynn D. Cunha of Ocala, Florida; sisters, Betty Badessa of Warwick, Rhode Island and Patsy Lyon Hicks (Ray) of Narragansett, Rhode Island; sister-in-law, Joyce Cunha of Cranston, Rhode Island; close friend, Mickey Gill; and several adoring nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Gilbert will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Cunha’s arrangements.
