Msgt. Isaac Stevens, Jr., Usaf (Ret.)

Isaac Stevens, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Isaac was born in McIntosh, Georgia on June 30, 1952 to the late Evelyn and Isaac Stevens, Sr. He graduated from Liberty County High School in Midway, Georgia and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for 20 years. Isaac retired from the Air Force in 1992 and then went on to serve as a government contractor for 20 years. After retiring from his contracting career, he became a cost and budget analyst with Civil Service from which he retired in 2017.

Isaac deeply valued education and was always striving to further his and others’ knowledge. While in the military, he obtained both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as a master’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Isaac enjoyed teaching college courses in the evenings at UMass, even while serving as a government contractor.

A sports enthusiast, Isaac loved playing all sports, especially basketball, which he played intramurally during his time in the Air Force. He was an avid L.A. Lakers fan and enjoyed coaching youth basketball as well as his daughter’s ball teams through the years. In addition to all of this, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC), Big Brother Big Sister mentorship at Pearl Stephens Elementary, and the Founder and President of the Warner Robins Wealth Builders group. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Robins Air Force Base Chapel where he attended the men’s Bible Study group.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Effiedell Stevens.

Isaac is survived by his loving wife, Dorene Stevens; daughter, Natalia Stevens; siblings: Daisy Blount (Henry), Jerry Stevens of Savannah, GA, Inez Powell (Tony), Ernestine Britton (Herbert), Carolyn Stevens of Midway, GA, Clarence Stevens, Harry Stevens (Rosalind) of Brunswick, GA, Larry Stevens of Hinesville, GA, and Michael Stevens of Panama City, Panama; 30 nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Chaplain Matt Spencer officiating. Isaac will be laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens following the service.
