June 25, 1966 — December 6, 2020

Lisa Leigh Hembree, 54, passed away in the late afternoon of Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Lisa was born in West Monroe, Louisiana, on June 25, 1966. A selfless airman, she started her 21-year military career as a Medic at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, before later taking part in rescuing others in New Orleans, Louisiana, during Hurricane Katrina. She was later stationed at Osan U.S. Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, then Robins Air Force Base, serving in Afghanistan with the Army 101st Airborne, Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Finley-Shields, and finally back to Robins AFB, where she retired from the USAF as a decorated veteran, medic, and skilled marksman.

As she began her 2nd career in medical coding for the Department of Defense, Lisa never slowed down. She spent her free time devoted to her passions which included travel and camping, honing her culinary skills, quilting which she learned from her mother, gardening, animal adoption and welfare, painting, and keeping her creative skills extremely active. Lisa adored her pets - the chihuahuas Zuzu, Boudreaux, Mr. Cooper and the cat, Jack. She also enjoyed watching SEC football, especially LSU, with her family and friends. Lisa was the funniest and most caring of women, spending many memorable times with loved ones. She gave her time, her heart and her soul to all she could help. She leaves a beautiful legacy of grace and wisdom.

Her memory will be forever cherished by a very large and extended family which includes her beloved husband of 36 years, William Jeffery Hembree of Kathleen GA; mother, Martha Sue Hendry (deceased) and father, Louie Hendry of West Monroe LA; siblings, Tommy Elledge & his wife Jeannie of Shreveport LA, Tammie Elledge Pate & Jeff Hosford of Lawrenceville GA, Eric Hendry & his wife Stephanie of West Monroe LA, Connie Tee & her wife Silvia de los Santos of Seabeck WA; nieces and nephews, Jordan Elledge & Thomas, Austin Elledge; Graham Creery, Megan Clark & Brandon; special friends, Angie & Jason Morris and Monica & Bobby Wilson and many other adored extended family members & friends.
