Msgt. Mitchell Lee Thompson, Usaf (Ret.)

Mitchell Thompson, 59, entered into rest on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Born on November 6, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mitchell was one of six children of the late Robert Thompson and Donna Hammond Carlson. He was a 1974 graduate of Fort Madison High School, Iowa and joined the United States Air Force to proudly serve his country for 20 years. Mitchell received an Associate's Degree from the Community College of the Air Force while he served. Following his military retirement, he continued to work in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a Metrologist. In his free time, he enjoyed NASCAR, loved shooting and going to the gun range in Hawkinsville. He was also a much-loved member of the American Legion Post 133. He was of the Christian faith.

His beloved wife of 32 years, Hae Chu Thompson, preceded him in death.

Mitchell's memory will forever be treasured by his loving children, Christina Thompson of Millbrook, Alabama and Charles Thompson (Kenna) of Prattville, Alabama; grandchildren, Caleb, Carissa and Christian; stepmother, Tess Thompson of Fort Madison, Iowa; siblings, Randy Thompson (Lois) of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Cindy Ramirez of Lynden, Washington, Bob Thompson of (Marlene) of Pensacola, Florida, Joan Carpenter (John) of Lynden, Washington, and Jolene Cox (Rod) of St. Paul, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kum Chu Doane of Millbrook, Alabama; and nephews, Jon Doane of Las Vegas, Nevada and Patrick Doane of Millbrook, Alabama.

Visitation will be Friday, May 15, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Full Military Honors.
