Msgt. Richard Harold Snider, Usaf (Ret.)

January 20, 1934 — October 20, 2016

In the early morning hours of Thursday, October 20, 2016, Richard Snider, 82, passed away peacefully.

Richard was born on January 20, 1934 in Coeymans Hollow, New York to the late Ambrose and Alice Benn Snider. With great pride and honor he served in the United States Air Force as a Load Master on the C-130. Richard was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He dedicated much of his time volunteering as a Coxswain for the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Fire Fighter in Medway, New York, Emergency Dispatcher in Greene County, New York, First Responder for the Rescue Squad in Coxsackie, New York and an Arson Inspector in New York State. Richard also ran his own Beefalo Farm in New York for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. Richard loved to travel especially to Alaska and Texas. However, his greatest joy was found in family mainly time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, his son, Ricky Snider, and sister, Ellen Williams, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 62 years, Laurette Snider of Byron; daughter, LT Col. Darleene Snider, USAF (Ret.) (Brig Gen. Martha Meeker, USAF (Ret.)) of Sisters, Oregon; sons, Scott Snider (Karen) of Byron; Terry Snider (Laurie) of Massachusetts; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Millie Cole of Ravena, NY; Mary Lou Youmans of Ravena, NY; Rita of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

At the family's request all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Richard Snider to the Air Force Sergeants Association, P.O. Box 50 Temple Hills, MD 20757 or the Alzheimer's Research Association, 919 N Michigan Ave Ste 1000, Chicago, IL 60611.
