Msgt. Roger Allen Englehart, Usaf (Ret.)

March 1, 1977 — May 4, 2021

Roger Allen Englehart passed away unexpectedly at the age of 44, on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, he was a 1995 graduate of Wilson Hall and went on to attend the University of South Carolina. There, Roger met his beautiful wife and companion, Tiffany, and made her his wife on April 13, 1999.

After two years of college, Roger proudly joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Shaw AFB, SC. He worked as an aircraft electrician and was privileged to have traveled all over the world with his military career and family. Their destinations included: Germany, Iceland, England and California, before the family eventually settled at Robins AFB, GA in 2012. During his time in the military, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland. Roger retired from the Air Force in May of 2018 having attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Subsequent to his military career, he worked as a data analyst for Strategic Enterprise Solutions Corporation and most recently for Total Sustainment Engineering Services.

Roger was a talented mechanic who loved riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He was a very accomplished motorcyclist having competed in Enduro Racing in his younger years. Roger dearly loved his family and strived to have a special relationship with each of his children. He enjoyed working on cars and riding motorcycles with his son, Preston. With his daughter, Sierra, Roger enjoyed spending time with her while hunting. He was also proud to watch her compete in competition shooting with the Fort Valley Gun Club. Pinewood Baptist Church in Pinewood, South Carolina was Roger’s church home.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Debbie R. Hostetler.

Those left to cherish Roger’s memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Tiffany Hostetler Englehart and children, Preston Duane and Sierra Suryne Englehart, all of Kathleen; mother and stepfather, Desiree Englehart Matheny and Eric Matheny of Center Point, WV; father, Wayne Lovelace of Darlington, South Carolina; dad, Roger A. Showman (Linda) of Virginia; brother, Kenny Showman (Carrie D.) of Cordova, South Carolina; and father-in-law, Steve Hostetler of Sumter, South Carolina.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Rd., Sumter, SC 29150. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, with Reverend Neil DuBose officiating. Roger will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter, following the service.
