Msgt Theodore Charles "Ted" Schildknecht, Usaf (Ret)

December 13, 1946 — December 16, 2013

Theodore Charles "Ted" Schildknecht, 67, entered into rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 16, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Ted was born on December 13, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Charles William and Florence Young Schildknecht. Second Baptist Church was his church home where he served for several years as an AWANA Leader, taught children's church and participated in the Passion Play. With courage and commitment, MSgt Schildknecht, served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after dedicating over twenty years of distinguished service. He spent much of his military career working with the U-2 mission and was a Vietnam Veteran. Subsequent to his military retirement, Ted worked as a Department of Defense Contractor for twenty one years with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Ted adored his family and friends. He enjoyed bowling, having one "perfect" 300 score to his credit. He coached his daughters in the youth league, bowling on several leagues with the same teammates for many years and bowled in the National tournament for twenty four years. He was an avid golfer, taking annual golf trips with his close buddies to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was also a youth boy's Upward basketball coach. A tireless community servant, Ted loyally supported many charitable organizations including the American Legion, National Police and Trooper Association, Reserve Police Officer's Association, U.S. Deputy Sheriff's Association, National Vietnam Vets Association, and the Disabled Vets Association, just to name a few. In addition to his parents, one brother, Richard Schildknecht, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of twenty years, Janie Schildknecht, Bonaire; children, Amy Lynn Cheely (Dee), Elizabeth Ann Mills (Mike) all of Arizona; Brett W. Schildknecht, Bonaire; brothers, Marty, New Orleans, Louisiana; Frank, Louisville, Kentucky, and sister, Kathy Bard, also of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Justin, Morgan, Austin, Logan, Christian, and Jacob; and several nieces and nephews.
