Maj. Tracy H. Mccollister, Jr., Usaf (Ret.)

July 10, 1939 — December 31, 2017

Tracy McCollister, Jr., 78, joined the Lord in heaven on the morning of Sunday, December 31, 2017.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 10, 1939, Tracy was the son of the late Verniece Glotz McCollister and Tracy Herndon McCollister, Sr. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1957 and earned a Bachelor in Politcal Science from Louisiana State University before proudly joining the United States Air Force. While serving his country, Tracy was stationed in Alabama, South Korea, California, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Turkey, and Germany. He eventually retired with the rank of Major in 1984 with over 21 years of service.

Not content to sit around in his retirement years, Tracy stayed busy in several different endeavors including: working as an on-air personality for WCOP Christian Radio, Manager of both Magnolia Park Cemetery and Parkway Memorial Gardens, Editor of the Buyer’s Connection, and Owner/Publisher of the Byron-Centerville Patriot. He was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church and former member and deacon at Green Acres Baptist Church, both in Warner Robins. A lifelong fan of LSU football, Tracy loved books, newspapers, and all forms of information. He had a sharp intellect and insatiable desire to connect with people and the world. Tracy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Louise Humphreys McCollister.

Tracy’s memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of more than 44 years, Renee Yalch McCollister of Warner Robins; daughter, Faith Noel McCollister (Christian Brazil Bautista) of New York City; brother, Donald McCollister (Sandra) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister, Elizabeth McCollister Albright of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; stepsister, Rhenda Addison of Richardson, Texas; stepbrother, Gerald Humphreys of New Roads, Louisiana; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough with Rev. Mike Winfree officiating. Following the service, Tracy will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
