Major Ronald P. Johnson, Usmc (Ret)

December 1, 1941 — October 2, 2010

Major Ronald P. Johnson, 68, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, October 2, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Ron Johnson lived his life in service to His Lord, and remained faithful and thankful throughout his 16-month treatment of cancer. He claimed the promise of Philippians 1:21, "To me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
Ron Johnson was born in Valley City, North Dakota, on December 1, 1941. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Major Johnson proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After retirement he had many opportunities to use his gifts and intellect, serving as a university professor, an administrator, and a computer analyst at RAFB. Mr. Johnson loved to teach the Scripture and was passionate about imprinting the Word of God into the hearts and minds of youth. He was a mentor to many people, freely giving of his time and wisdom, and will be greatly missed.

Ron Johnson was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His memory will forever be in the hearts of his wife of 42 years, Earline K. Johnson; children, Dr. Kirsten Johnson (Jonathan Herring), Oxford, England; Marcae Robertson (Nicholas), Noida, India; Dr. Paul Johnson (Jennifer), Atlanta; grandchildren, Grace and Hope Robertson, Laurel, Joanna, and Darcy Herring Johnson, Evelyn and Nathan Johnson; sister, Eileen Maier; brothers, Dennis Johnson, Stan Johnson, Doug Johnson, and Alan Johnson. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Marie Johnson, and his sister, Jean Miller-Seidel.

A celebration service officiated by Chaplain Newton will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at the Robins Air Force Base Chapel. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 537, Warner Robins, GA 31099 (www.gideons.org).
