Mrs. Margaret Clare Smith Deaver, spiritually departed this earth Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Clare went to be with Jesus at the Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, Georgia at the end of a difficult battle with cancer.
Clare was born on July 23, 1947 in Houston, Texas to parents, Blackburn and Maizie Smith. In 1969, she graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas with her Bachelor’s Degree and married her sweetheart, Bill Deaver. Clare devoted her years to being a loving military wife and mother, raising their three children in different parts of the world. Wherever the family lived, Clare faithfully engaged in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to hundreds of children. God alone knows how many children were born again through her ministry. In 1985, they moved to Warner Robins where they joined Covenant Presbyterian Church and have served the Lord and the church lovingly, faithfully, and fruitfully ever since. Clare taught the Gospel to most of the children in the church as well as teaching at Warner Robins Middle School and Central Fellowship Christian Academy, plus tutoring. She was a wonderful encourager, always uplifting others, unfailingly representing her Lord and Savior in a manner that truly glorified Him. She had a great love for her husband, children, grandchildren, church, and her many friends and students. Clare will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 48 years, William “Bill” Deaver, III; children, William H. “Will” Deaver, IV (Melanie), Thompson B. “Tom” Deaver (Sarah), Margaret “Meg” Deaver Sparks (Tim); grandchildren, Liam, Jack, Ella, Fisher, Shepherd, Daisy; and siblings, Brooke Smith (Karolyn) and Sally Whittington.
Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Houston Lake Presbyterian. Following the service, Clare will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
