Margaret G. Burris

Margaret G. Burris, 78, entered into rest on Sunday, March 25, 2012.

Mrs. Burris was born on March 7, 1934 in Sayre, Oklahoma. Margaret toured the world and the states with her husband Gene during his twenty year service in the United States Air Force, moving to Warner Robins in 1969, and then to Bonaire in 1974. Margaret was also a civilian Department of Defense employee who retired from the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. She and her husband were strong advocates of education and worked hard to ensure that all five of their boys graduated from the University of Georgia. Margaret did volunteer and community service work and opened her heart and her door to those in need. She called Bonaire United Methodist Church her church home. Her husband, Gene Burris; son Randy Burris; parents, George and Leona Goade; sisters, Martha Weightman and Rosa Goade; and brothers, Alfred and Calvin Goade, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving family: sons, Brad Burris, Bonaire, Greg Burris, Tampa, Florida, Jeff Burris, Bonaire, and Doug Burris, Yorktown, Virginia; sisters, Joy Zowie and Juanita Cappel, both of Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Bonaire United Methodist Church with interment following in Bonaire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Bonaire United Methodist Church Building Fund, 144 Elm Street, Bonaire, GA 31005.
