Margarita Bazan Harpe

September 6, 1935 — March 22, 2020

Margarita Bazan Harpe of Warner Robins, Georgia was called to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at Summerhill Assisted Living in Perry, Georgia. She was the beloved wife of William Wendell Harpe for nearly 60 years. She was born in Laredo, Texas on September 6, 1935 to Esperanza Jaurequi Bazan and Martiniano Bazan, the youngest of seven children. The Lord blessed her and her husband with five children: William W. “Billy” Harpe II (deceased) (Luanne), Felicia Lynn Harpe Woodruff (Brett) of Richmond, VA, Mary Ellen Harpe McDougald (Jerry) of Bonaire, GA, Hope Doreen Harpe Sirman of Bonaire, GA, Michael Derek Harpe (Jennifer) of Byron, GA, and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and eldest son, “Mague” as her husband and family affectionately called her, was preceded in death by her siblings, Maria Del Carmen Bazan Sawyer (William), Estela Bazan Ramirez (Herberto), Jose Bazan (Guadalupe “Lupita”), Guadalupe Bazan (Bertha), Victoria Bazan Rocha (Joel) Martiniano Bazan (Gloria).

Mague graduated from Martin High School in Laredo, Texas then attended business school in San Antonio before returning to Laredo where she met and married her husband. After the birth of their first two children in Laredo, she and her family moved to Warner Robins, GA where she was blessed with her remaining three children. Mague loved her husband, her children and her Lord.

Mague was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, GA. Her Catholic Christian faith and the Grace of God strengthened her in facing life’s challenges and directed her path. Together with her husband “Bill”, Mague demonstrated the strength of a Christian marriage and instilled the love of family, travel, education, and being of service to others. Mrs. Harpe was known for her love of children and in addition to her own, helped raise other children in her home.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the need to limit gatherings, a private Magnolia Park Cemetery Gravesite Service will be held for her husband and children on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11 AM with Father (Msgr.) Fred Nijem, Pastor Emeritus, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, presiding. A funeral Mass and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 S. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
