Marlene A. Wright

December 17, 1950 — March 16, 2018

Marlene A. Wright, loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 16, 2018. She was 67 years old.

Marlene was born on December 17, 1950 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to the late Jack Robert and Louise Betty Whiddon Smith. She ran the successful business, Rite-Way Quality Homes with her husband, Stanley before retiring. The family’s rock, Marlene was a wonderful mother to her children and was seen by her family as another mother to her grandchildren. She was a “mother of all mothers” to her family and friends and was selfless, always putting others before herself. Marlene was very down to earth and always lent a listening ear. Encouraging, strong-willed, candid, and a straight shooter, you always knew you were getting her best and honest advice. In her free time, Marlene enjoyed golfing, cooking good recipes, fishing with her twin sister, and enjoyed attending Track Side Church in Cochran. She will be greatly missed and leaves behind so many fond memories in the hearts of all of her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Sandra Smith and Stanley Stone.

Marlene’s memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 24 years, Stanley Wright; twin sister, Darlene Young (Ted) and other siblings, Michael Smith (Carol) and David Smith (Christy); children, Jimmy McMillian, Jr. (Sally), Terry McMillian (Melissa), Kimberly Piper (Robert), Tammy Collins, Michelle Murphy (John), Melissa McMillian (Terry), Michael Wright (Paula), and Mark Wright (Amanda); mother-in-law who was like a second mom, Marie Wright; grandchildren, Casey (John), Matthew (Renea), Megan (Josh), Candis (Dustin), Kyle, Kayla (Hany), Eric, Ashley (Jess), Nick (Ivy), Mitchel, Victoria, Tyler, Alexis, Amber, Cole, Trey, Daylan, Lance, Riley, Donovan, Logan, Rylee, Jake, Kevin (Taylor), and Nikki (Jody); and great-grandchildren, Jaykub, Khloé, Gracie, Zachary, Marlee, Benjamin, Braylee, Avalee, Paislee, Kolin, Elizabeth, Kemple, Hunter, Hudson, Greyson, and Ethan.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough with Rev. Todd Shearin officiating. Afterwards, Marlene will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in honor of Marlene’s sister, Darlene Young, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th floor, New York, NY 10022.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Wright’s arrangements.
