Marvin Butler, 77, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Marvin was born on December 5, 1939 in Rebecca, Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. A proud six-year Veteran of the United States Army, he attended military college and St. Petersburg Junior College to further his career. Marvin worked for 33 years in public utilities for the City of St. Pete, Florida until his retirement. Strong-minded, strong-willed, he was also a self-made farmer and supplied fresh fruits and vegetables to the neighborhood. Marvin will be remembered as a dedicated family man who was very proud and a very sweet, loving man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela E. Butler; and his mother, Beatrice Cleveland Carter.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Jacqueline R. Butler; daughters, Bridget A. Moore and Michell B. Butler; grandson, Brian K. Moore; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members; adopted daughter, Prophetess Queen Hyes; and special dog, Grace, whom he affectionately called “My Little Girl Grace.”

At the family’s request, Mr. Butler’s burial will be private.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Butler’s arrangements.
