Mary Ann Windham Greene

August 19, 1928 — June 18, 2017

Mary Ann Greene, 88, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 18, 2017, in the company of her close family after a long, full life and a short battle with cancer.

Mary Ann was born in Macon, Georgia on August 19, 1928, to the late Newton J. Mullis and Mary Virginia Thompson. In 1942, she was a member of the first graduating class of Warner Robins High School, after which she married Gurvis L. Windham, an officer in the US Army. Throughout his Army career, they lived in France, Germany, and Hawaii among other duty stations. Following his retirement, Mary Ann and Gurvis owned a trucking company until illness caused a return to middle Georgia, where she settled in Warner Robins after Gurvis's death. She then went to work as a contract administrator at Robins Air Force Base from where she eventually retired. It was then that she met and married Adam Greene of Bibb County who was also retired. The two of them enjoyed many years of travel and companionship until his passing in 2005.

Until three weeks ago, Mary Ann enjoyed bridge, gardening, and working in the Food Pantry of the Frist United Methodist Church of Warner Robins which was her church home for more than thirty years. Along with her beloved poodles, Nicklaus and Tucker, she made weekly trips to Eastman, Georgia to visit extended family. While in Eastman, she and her dogs would all have their hair done.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gurvis L. Windham; her second husband, Adam H. Greene; her children, Michael Windham and Ginger Windham; and her brothers, Bill Mullis and Charles Giddens.

Mary Ann leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Nancy Gardner (Greg) of Kathleen, Brian Windham of Atlanta, and George Windham (Sherry) of Bonaire; grandchildren, Chad Windham, Jamie Windham, Heather McCranie (Paul), Samantha Windham, Dakota Windham, Hoke Clark, and Taylor Gardner; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Madison, and Gabe McCranie.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ward St., Eastman, Georgia 31023 where she will be laid to rest following the service.
