Mary Cunningham Bass

Mary Margaret Cunningham Bass, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Ms. Bass was born on September 29, 1950, in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late William Harry and Margaret Naomi Thomas Cunningham. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was also a lifelong educator, earning a Master’s degree while molding the lives of children in Bibb County as a teacher for 48 years before retiring. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren above all else. She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Cunningham.

Her memory and love will live forever through the lives of her loving children as they pass down valuable lessons learned: Larry T. Bass, Jr., Jennifer Y. Bass, Melinda B. Schroeder (Marc), and George Bass (Mandy); grandchildren. Leia Odom, Lydia Bass, Olivia Boler, Evelyn Hilton, Alexander Lightsey, Austin Schroeder, Harlee Schroeder, and Levi Bass; siblings, Sally Sain, Nancy Wright, and Harry Cunningham; as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.

A memorial gathering with Ms. Bass’ family will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Father Eric Filmer officiating. At the family’s request, interment will be private.
