Mary Dickerson Bowman

November 21, 1947 — August 7, 2017

In the late evening hours of Monday, August 7, 2017, Mary Bowman, 69, passed away peacefully.

Mary was born on November 21, 1947 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late Joe Frank and Inis Crawford Dickerson. At a young age, she and her parents moved to Mobile, Alabama. In 1965, Mary graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile and continued her education at Mississippi State College for Women. Following a 29 year career with the government, she retired from Robins Air Force Base as a Financial Management Specialist earning the award for exemplary civilian service.

Mary was a giving, loving person, who would go above and beyond to help other people. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, cooking, and loved animals, especially her dog Harley. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her beloved family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday school class, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Tiffany DeCastro Flaherty (Sean) of Marietta, Georgia, Anthony A. DeCastro of Charlotte, North Carolina, and grandchildren, Graeme Crawford Flaherty, Liam Michael Flaherty, and Alastar Thomas Flaherty.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. At the family’s request burial will be private.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mary Dickerson Bowman, to the American Cancer Society, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033.
