Mary Falcone Lappano

September 1, 1921 — May 26, 2021

It is with both great sadness and joy that the family of Mary Lappano released her back to her heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. With only three months remaining until her 100th birthday, all who knew Mary celebrated the long and beautiful lifetime that she shared with them!

Mary was born on September 1, 1921 in Steelton, Pennsylvania to her parents, the late Carmine and Anna Falcone. As a child in a home with eight other siblings, Mary learned early to care for and love others through her service to them. Mary married Alfred Lappano, Sr. immediately after World War II and together they raised a family of three children and multiple grandchildren.

Mary was always active in the senior community and frequently helped provide meals for her church family at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins. Everyone would say that Mary never met a stranger and always found ways to help others in times of need. She spent a number of years working in the lunchroom at Warner Robins Junior High School, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. A quintessential Italian woman, she filled her home with amazing food and taught her children and grandchildren to do the same.

Mary lived most of her long life in Warner Robins and moved with her daughter to Byron in 2018. Her family loved to tease her about her notion that she had moved to “the mountains” to live. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Lappano, Sr., and her daughter, Margaret Malto.

Those who will cherish Mary’s memory are her children, Virginia Street (Alan) and Alfred Lappano, Jr. (Kathleen); grandchildren, Mike Malto (Nicole), Matthew Malto (Shilohe), and Jonathan Malto (Lori), Thomas Bell (Elizabeth), Aaron Street (Michelle), Stephen Lappano, David Lappano, and Bethany Dalfinos (Jarryd); great grandchildren, Sofia, Mimi, Owen, Kaiden, Andrew, Lauryn, Ava, Landon, Conner, Cate, and Elia; son-in-law, Dennis Malto; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services for Mary will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends in the vestibule one hour prior to the service. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
