Maudine Brewer Conley

February 9, 1927 — November 21, 2014

Maudine Conley, 87, walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 21, 2014.

Maudine was born in Denton, Georgia on February 9, 1927, a daughter of the late Clayton S. and Ollie Mae Mathis. A resident of the Middle Georgia Area for the past 23 years, Maudine had many close friends and caring neighbors. She loved entertaining, reading, and growing flowers that often adorned the sanctuary of her church on Sunday mornings. She served God faithfully throughout her life and was a member of Joyful Life Baptist Church.

Maudine had an exciting and rewarding career as a communications officer with the Foreign Service of the U. S. Department of State, traveling to numerous countries and meeting many dignitaries.

Maudine's son, Thomas Conley; brother, Clayton "Bud" Mathis; and sister, Jeana Quick, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted daughters, LaDonne O'Connor (Jim) of Aiken, South Carolina and Sherry Wilson (David) of High Point, North Carolina; grandchildren, Amy Wilson Havlen (Leo) and Michael Wilson, both of High Point, North Carolina, Kevin O'Connor (Margaret) of Aiken, South Carolina, Cory O'Connor of Cle Elum, Washington, Kelly Conley Davis (Travis), Kristy Conley Engle (Brian) and Lesley Conley, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Adela, Nora, and Karina Havlen, Madison Conley, Riley Conley and Harper Davis; brothers, Lawton Mathis (Glenice) of Savannah, Georgia, Charles Mathis (Ann) of McRae, Georgia and Richard Mathis of Jones County, Georgia; sisters, Geraldine McMillan of Albany, Georgia, Oveda Ashley of McRae, Georgia and Lynn Bonnette (Glenn) of Warner Robins, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Clements Family Cemetery at Mt. Galilee Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Georgia (Telfair County).

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given In Memory of Maudine Brewer Conley to Joyful Life Baptist Church, 1618 S. Houston Lake Rd., Kathleen, Georgia 31047 or to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
