Maureen Vinson

February 19, 1941 — June 25, 2020

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 25, 2020, Maureen Vinson, 79, went to be with her Lord in Heaven. She was born to the late Walter and Annie K. Fidler in Bradfield, England on February 19, 1941.

Maureen met her late husband, Phil, while he was stationed in England. She quickly grew to love him more than life itself and married him not long after their first encounter. Maureen became a full-time mother, military wife, and homemaker, and happily traveled the world with Phil’s Air Force career. The family was stationed in places all over the world and the U.S., one of those places being Warner Robins. In 1983, a few years into Phil’s retirement from the Air Force, they moved back to Warner Robins.

Maureen was excellent at loving her children and being the perfect “Nana” to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and being a member of Air Force Family Services and British Wives’ Club. Maureen will be remembered as the matriarch of the Vinson family and her family’s biggest advocate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Phil Vinson; and siblings, Shirley Caplin, Mervyn Fidler, Olive Sellwood, and Barbara Armer.

Maureen is survived by her daughters, Diana Lynn Sedell (Clarence) of Mason, Michigan, Christine Lesley Reed (Timothy) of Kathleen, Georgia, and son, John Philip Vinson, II of Warner Robins; grandchildren, April Dawn Mayer (Jeremy) of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Christina Marie Urie (Corey Walker) of Warner Robins, and Cameron Adrian Sedell (Keshia) of Lansing, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Makayla Mayer, Bryce Mayer, and Asiyan Philip Walker; and siblings, Patricia Shaw of Shropshire, England and Beryl Garstang of Berkshire, England.
