Maurice Wetherington

March 26, 1949 — September 20, 2005

Ned Wetherington, 56, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September, 20, 2005 in his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Mass of the Resurrection at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Kathleen. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM at the church.

Mr. Wetherington was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on March 26, 1949. He had been a guitarist for the choirs at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of Saint Joseph and Saint Peter Claver, Macon and most recently of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Kathleen. He taught guitar lessons and was the roadee for the Grapevine band. In addition to being a wonderful musician, he was a professional photographer and filmed many Warner Robins area High School football games. He worked for 19 years with Cox Communications as a media specialist and a number of years at WMAZ TV where he was a cameraman. Ned was a 1967 graduate of Warner Robins High School and journalism major at Middle Georgia College. Mr. Wetherington was raised in Augusta and Warner Robins. Ned loved to tease and laugh and was always the photographer at family get-togethers. His parents, Lonnie Z. and Geneva T. Wetherington and his sister, Patricia Ruth Wetherington preceded him in death.

Survivors include his three sisters, Marianne Herring, San Antonio, TX; Sue Alzheimer, Augusta, GA; Madge Kohanna, Warner Robins; four brothers, Lonnie Wetherington III, Richmond, VA; Christopher Wetherington, Warner Robins; Joe Wetherington, Warner Robins; Charles Wetherington, Knoxville, TN; four sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws, many cousins, three aunts, six nephews, eleven nieces, four great nieces, and two great nephews . He was close to his nieces and nephews and he babysat for several of them when they were younger. They loved “Uncle Ned” and he loved them.

His family will love him always and miss him greatly. He loved God and was a man of great faith. He believed in the resurrection and the family will see him again in eternity with God.
