Mavis Hall Buchanan

April 30, 1937 — October 2, 2021

Mavis Hall Buchanan, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Saturday, October 2, 2021. She was 84 years old.

Mavis was born to the late John H. and Victoria Green Hall, in the mountains of Greens Creek, North Carolina, on April 30, 1937. She graduated with Webster High School’s Class of 1955, and soon after, met the love of her life, Glenn Olin Buchanan. They were married on December 21, 1957 and Mavis immediately embraced the lifestyle of being a wife and mother. Glenn accepted a job in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base, in the early ‘60s, and the family made their home in Warner Robins. Mavis enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother for their children, Steve and Glenda, for the duration of their youth. After the kids were grown, she began working part-time at Sears and volunteered with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at the Houston Medical Center, primarily in the gift shop.

A 50-year, faithful member of First Baptist Church in Centerville, Mavis loved attending Sunday school class and fellowshipping with other church members. In addition, she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. Mavis enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, cooking, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Olin Buchanan.

Mavis is survived by her loving children, Steve Buchanan (Kelly) of Kathleen and Glenda Spillers of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Beau Buchanan (Carrie) and Kelsey Spillers Galeano (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Ellie Galeano, Joel Galeano, Bailey Buchanan and Olin Buchanan.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Mavis will be laid to rest next to Glenn, in Magnolia Park Cemetery, after the service.
