Melvin Charles Coulter

March 28, 1944 — January 20, 2019

Melvin C. Coulter, 74, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

On March 28, 1944, Melvin was born to the late William Brown Coulter and Tempi Elizabeth Herdon Coulter in Jones, County. He was a graduate of Jones County High School in Gray, Georgia. Melvin enlisted into the United States Air Force after high school and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After his military career, Melvin worked civil service at Robins Air Force Base as an Aircraft Functional Test Mechanic and was the “Snowman” at his local SnoHut until his retirement. Mature in his faith, he was a member of Byron Baptist Church. Melvin was a devoted husband, wonderful father, loving grandfather and a giving friend. His favorite pastimes included hunting, being outdoors, raising cows, talking with people, traveling and most of all spending time with his family and friends whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester Coulter, Randy Coulter, Leonard Coulter, W.T. Coulter, Raymond Coulter, Vernon Coulter and Jack Coulter.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Coulter; children, Scott Coulter (Lisa) and Stacy Coulter Marshall (Hunter); grandchildren, Brad Marshall, Ally Marshall, Lily Coulter, Alexia Myers and Lane Myers; sisters, Geneva Bussell, Christine McNab, Blanche Marchman and Alice Duke; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held for Mr. Coulter at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Byron Baptist Church. Afterwards, Melvin Coulter will peacefully be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mr. Coulter to Byron Baptist Church at 100 White Road, Byron, Georgia 31008.
