Mildred Filistin

June 14, 1960 — February 11, 2022

Mildred Ruth Curtis Filistin was born on Tuesday, June 14, 1960 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Ocala, Florida to Clint Curtis of Mississippi and Ida Lee Curtis of Ocala.

Wanting more for herself, Mildred relocated to Miami, Florida where she met her husband and children’s father, Harold D. Filistin. Mildred was gainfully employed for 32 years at the Miami International Airport until she retired in 2010.

Mildred and Harold had two daughters, Corterical J. Cray (Alonzo R. Cray, Sr.) and Milande D. Jonace (Germaine Jonace). In addition to her daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ayanna Cray, Cheyenne Cray, Zoey Cray, Alonzo Cray, Jr., Gabriella Cray, Isreal Jonace, and Gemya Jonace; sister, Mazie Spencer; brother, Christopher Curtis; and a slew of other friends and family members.

Mildred was loved by many and respected by all. When she walked into a room, Mildred was the one who commanded the attention of everyone there. Mildred was an amazingly smart and beautiful woman who is already tremendously missed. Her grandchildren have specifically voiced how much they will miss her and all of her good cooking such as rice, her fish, and her sauce. Her grandbabies will miss her calling them by their special nicknames, “Miss Puff” for Zoey, “Princess Angel” for Cheyenne, and many other sayings she had. The memories of her love for her family will live on through her daughters, grandchildren, and those who were blessed to have known her.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at McCullough Funeral Home. Her service will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately.

For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
