Msgt. James L. "Jim" Faherty, Usaf (Ret.)

May 17, 1942 — May 14, 2021

With great sadness, the family of Jim Faherty announces his passing in the evening hours of Friday, May 14, 2021. He was three days away from turning 79 years old.

Born in Tipton, Missouri in 1942, Mr. Faherty was the son of the late Vincent William and Margaret Mary Faherty. He served his country with pride and honor for 22 years in the United States Air Force from where he retired having attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon his military retirement, Mr. Faherty spent several years as a field supervisor at Brent Cunningham Land Surveyor. He was the dictionary’s definition of “hard work” and was sure to instill in his children and grandchildren the value of “always do your best.” Furthermore, Mr. Faherty was a definite rules and regulations follower as he believed that living by the rules was the best policy in any facet of life! He loved country music, going to the Powersville Opry, and looking for a bargain at all of the thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales. Mr. Faherty’s family and friends will forever remember him for his genuine disposition and willingness to do anything for anybody. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Frances Faherty; his son, Jeff Faherty; and brothers, Robert, William and Ronnie Faherty.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Julie Shoudel of Warner Robins and John Faherty (Eileen “Lee” Ford-Faherty) of Perry; grandchildren, Shelby White and Megan Shoudel Woodyard (Ryan), both of Perry; special friend, Joyce Burgess of Warner Robins; and brother, George Faherty (Phyllis) of Missouri.

Mr. Faherty’s family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to Mrs. Faherty with a graveside funeral service and Full Military Honors at 11:30 a.m. in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Cleghorn will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mr. Faherty to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
