Msgt. Mervyn Frederick Porter, Usaf (Ret.)

Mervyn Porter, 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

Mervyn was born on February 18, 1936 in Oakland, California and was of the Baptist faith. He was a proud 20-year United States Air Force Veteran and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in the early 1970's. Following his military retirement, he moved to Warner Robins in 1972 to pursue a career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base from where he retired, as well. Though he was a 45-year resident of Warner Robins, he always referred to Oakland his home. Mervin enjoyed airplanes and traveling in his free time.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loraine Porter; and parents, Dwight and Edith Porter.

Mervyn leaves his memory behind with his children, Tod Porter (Johnnie) of Gray, Hal Porter of Omaha, Nebraska, and Vanessa of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Christina Smith, and Kaitlyn, Tyler, Briana, Marcus and Allie Porter; and brother, Lee Porter of California.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th in Magnolia Park Cemetery where Mervyn will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors. Rev. Randy Darnell will officiate.
