Carl Freeberg, 74, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 26, 2017.
Ragnar was born on December 4, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ragnar C. Freeberg, Sr. and Ethel McNamara Freeberg. He grew up on the south side of Chicago where he attended Morgan Park High School and was a member of the ZETA Fraternity. There, Carl excelled in all sports, but baseball and football were his favorites. Following his high school graduation, he attended Wilson Junior College before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and bravely guarded airplanes in Thailand with Security Police. Carl retired from the military with the rank of Master Sergeant. In 1987, he began working as a computer analyst with Defense Information Systems Agency and retired after 27 years of service. He was a devout member of Our Lady of the Skies and loved reading mysteries, watching Westerns, and studying his Swedish heritage in his free time.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Patrice Celeski.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Josephine Ricarte Freeberg of Bonaire; children, Kristin Greene (Ron) of Macon, Andrew M. Freeberg of Seattle, Washington, Ragnar C. Freeberg III and Isabell Reyes (Antonio), both of Warner Robins, Cinthia Freeberg of Bonaire; grandchildren, Joseph Fox, Diego Reyes, and Chin-Lee Kurat; sister, Elaine Duffens of Chicago, Illinois; and five nieces and nephews.
A Wake Service will take place on Thursday, June 29th at 6:00 p.m. with visitation until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Ragnar will be laid to rest in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
